This year the Hampton Roads Sports Commission will award three local AAU Junior Olympic athletes $500 apiece. Athletes must apply and a committee will review and select the recipients based on certain required criteria.

The award is in honor of the first Hampton Roads Sports Commission Executive Director, Jack Ankerson. Mr. Ankerson's longtime involvement in sports in the Hampton Roads area along with his charisma, hard work and dedication to everything he is involved with, is nothing short of admirable!
