Former Old Dominion standout Jon Hurst shot a 1-under 71 Sunday to post a two-shot victory in the 37th VSGA Mid-Amateur Championship at The Foundry Golf Club.

Hurst, a Fredericksburg native, was the only golfer in the field to post three under-par rounds. He finished at a 7-under 209.

“The older you get, the more nervous you get,” said Hurst, 44. “It always feels good to win – no matter what you win, because you come up short more than you win in golf.”

Hurst was the first D-I All-American in golf at ODU.

Vincent Nadeau of Gordonsville was second at 211. Roger Newsom of Virginia Beach tied for 17th.
