Norfolk State's Goode named MEAC Player of the Week

Brandon Goode, the 7-foot center from the Bronx who replaced star Kyle O’Quinn as the starter on the Norfolk State basketball team, was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Player of the Week after helping the Spartans upend Rhode Island, 67-55, in their opener on Friday night.

Goode scored 13 points and hauled down 13 rebounds in just his second career start. Goode made 6 of 9 shots and added a blocked shot, an assist and just one turnover in 24 minutes.

O’Quinn was named the MEAC’s Player of the Year last season after leading Norfolk State to the conference tournament title and an upset victory over second-seeded Missouri in the NCAA tournament.

Norfolk State plays at Seton Hall on Monday night.
