The Virginia Senior Games Are Kicking Off This Week in Newport News

The City of Newport News is excited to be hosting the Virginia Senior Games this week, May 17-21. The Virginia Senior Games takes place each spring and attracts hundreds of athletes, spectators and families. This year the event will feature 18 sports and it is open to anyone 50 years of age or older.

If you are not competing, there are other ways to get involved in this year’s Virginia Senior Games as well. There are volunteer opportunities still available or you may just come out to cheer on the athletes! Wednesday, May 18

  • Men’s and Women’s Horseshoes – Newport News Park
  • Racquetball (singles/doubles/mixed) – OneLife Fitness
  • Table Tennis (singles/doubles/mixed) – Brittingham-Midtown Community Center
  • Men’s and Women’s Tennis (doubles) – An Achievable Dream Academy

Thursday, May 19

  • Billiards – Peninsula Billiards
  • Bowling Singles – Sparetimes Bowling
  • Golf – Newport News Golf Club
  • Pickleball Doubles – Huntington Park Tennis Center
  • Road Race 5K – Newport News Park
  • Softball Hit & Throw – Stoney Run Athletic Complex

Friday, May 20

  • Men’s, Women’s and  Mixed Volleyball – Woodside High School
  • Track & Field – Christopher Newport University
