Former Old Dominion offensive lineman D.J. Morrell signed as a free agent with the Detroit Lions after Saturday’s NFL draft.
“I’m excited I am getting an opportunity and ready to get to work in Detroit,” he said.
After transfering from Dean Junior College in Massachusetts, the native of Norwalk, Conn., started all 25 games he played at ODU, playing guard and tackle. Lining up at right guard last season at Pittsburgh, he held All-America defensive tackle Aaron Donald to two tackles.
