Jamie Stone put on a sensational performance to give World Class Gymnastics its first all-around champion at the Level 9 Eastern Nationals.
With her showing at the May 1-5 meet in Battle Creek, Mich., Stone completed a sweep of the majors — having already won all-around titles in her age group at the state and regional meets.
Stone, 15, not only won the AA with a score of 37.775 but also took the floor championship (9.5). The Western Branch High sophomore also placed third on beam (9.3), tied for third on vault (9.45), and finished fourth on bars (9.525).
Overall, everyone for World Class had a good meet. All seven of its qualifiers placed in the top 7 in at least one event, and three gymnasts placed in the top 5 in the all-around.
"To place in the top 5 in half the country (in the all-around) is pretty impressive," Harrison said.
Gabby Johanek tied for third in the AA (37.2) in the Sr. 5 age group and Kaitlyn Tudor was fifth in Sr. 3 (37.125). Johanek tied for second on bars, placed third on beam, and tied for third on floor. Tudor's best placement came with a tie for fifth on vault.
Others placing and their top finishes included: Katlyn Turek, Sr. 3, second on vault; Taylor Miezejeski, Jr. 8, fifth on bars; Hope Nelson, Jr. 7, tie for fifth on beam; and Taylor Le Moal, Sr. 7, seventh on floor.
