Virginia Sports Hall of Fame & Museum and Children's Museum of Virginia Team Up for Home School Day

For just $9 per person, home schooled children get the chance to explore both museums

PORTSMOUTH, VA – The Virginia Sports Hall of Fame & Museum and the Children’s Museum of Virginia have teamed up to host Home School Day on Thursday, January 31, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 2 pm.  Guests will receive admission to both museums for only $9. The purpose of this event is to open the doors to home school families for a day of amusement, learning and fun.

Offering this event gives home schooled children a chance to explore the museums, and to participate in educational programs at both locations. The museums are conveniently located directly across High Street from each other, giving home schooled children flexibility to either spend the day with their family exploring both places or to divide and conquer. For example, younger children may play on the fire truck and bubbles at the Children’s Museum, while older kids will be inspired by Virginia’s incredible sports history and hit the basketball court and other interactive play areas at the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame & Museum.

The Virginia Sports Hall of Fame & Museum is open daily during the winter and spring from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $7 per person, $6 military or senior citizen (age 65+) and free for members and children 2 or younger.
