VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - About 1,500 soccer players from across the country hit the field in Virginia Beach last weekend.

The Neptune Soccer Classic took place at the Hampton Roads Soccer Complex, with a goal of giving men and women a quality chance to compete.

Organizers told WAVY.com it’s a great opportunity for recreational players to play soccer and visit the resort city.

“This is a group of adults who really love the came,” Tournament Director Marti Bevan said. “So they come down here and have a really good time. They get to see the beach and they get to go to the beach and enjoy that aspect of it. But also, just to keep playing the game they really love with a lot of great friends.”

This was the 16th year for the Neptune Soccer Classic.
