LONDON (WAVY) - Hampton's T'Erea Brown was an NCAA champion when ran for the University of Miami. She will be racing in the 400-meter hurdles Wednesday during her first Olympic Games.

Brown ran a personal best time of 54.21 to advance to the finals. She posted the fifth fastest time heading into the finals. The 22-year-old graduated from Hampton High School and is one of three Americans advancing to the finals.

Brown was given the name T'Erea, pronounced T-air-ah, from her aunt. She'll join Americans Lashinda Demus, who won her heat, and Georganne Moline in the finals.

A big 'good luck' sign is hanging outside of her high school. Heading into the London Games, Brown was ranked sixth in the world in the 400-meter hurdles.

She's one of eight runners to qualify for the race Wednesday. You can watch her run for gold on WAVY-TV 10 Wednesday night.
